Description
April 1964 an Herrn Dr. med.
From the Heart of Switzerland – Built in Schüpfheim, Sold to the World, and Still Remembered Nearly 60 Years After Production Ended!
Very few examples are believed to survive today. Estimates suggest that between 20 and 30 Enzmann 506 Spiders remain in existence, out of an estimated total production run of approximately 80 to 100 cars. Production began in 1958, following the model’s registration with the Swiss Federal Office of Intellectual Property on 28 October 1957. The official type approval was granted on 23 June 1958. The Enzmann 506 Spider offered here was first registered on 30 June 1961.
After spending three years as a demonstrator, the car was delivered to its first owner, Dr. Alfred Wyss of Wabern, on 23 April 1964. The original purchase agreement is included, along with correspondence between Dr. Alfred Wyss and Emil Enzmann Sr.
In 1976, the Spider passed into the hands of one of its creators, Dr. Ernst Enzmann, who kept the 506 until 2017. At that time, we had the opportunity to acquire this rare sports car directly from him.
The car comes with an extensive historical archive. Remarkably, the vehicle registration documents are still issued in the name of Dr. Ernst Enzmann, a particularly rare and distinctive detail. Its history has therefore been fully documented and can be traced right up to the present day.
According to the original purchase agreement, this Enzmann retains its original engine, making it a matching-engine example. The engine itself is a rare unit tuned by Okrasa (Oettinger Krafttechnische Spezialanstalt). This specialist tuning gives the Spider its lively character and makes it an agile, dynamic sports car.
An exceptionally comprehensive archive further enhances the car’s appeal. It includes numerous photographs as well as a wealth of maintenance records and receipts. The bodywork is in very attractive condition, as is the interior, while the mechanical components are in excellent working order.
This particular Enzmann 506 is featured in Jörg Huwyler’s film Enzmann – Die Autobauer aus dem Entlebuch. Various publications and other materials documenting the car also exist.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the very few surviving original Enzmann 506 Spiders, with the added distinction of having Dr. Ernst Enzmann himself as a previous owner.
Stand above the rest rather than simply getting in. The Enzmann 506 – a piece of Swiss automotive history.
